WHAT IS DRAGON BOAT RACING?
Initiated in ancient China, this 2,000 year old tradition is one of the world’s fastest growing water sports. Teamwork is everything in Dragon Boat Racing. A forty foot long boat holds twenty paddlers as they move in unison to the beat of their team drummer. Dragon boating enhances work dynamics, increases employee motivation, improves communication, boosts self-confidence and breaks down barriers among team members. Synchronicity is more important than strength. A perfectly synchronized team will almost always beat a stronger, but less coordinated team. Click here to register! .Corporate_Team_Packet.pdf

THE 2011 PADDLERS PARTY ROCKED!
You missed the event of the year if you didn’t join us at the JYC for this year’s Paddlers Party! We had a sold out event of over 500 attendees. 30 teams of paddlers, friends and family enjoyed this kick off party to celebrate their participation in the 2011 Regatta held Saturday, May 14th at Old Trace Park on the Rez. Everyone enjoyed a cash bar and spectacular food catered by the Jackson Yacht Club. We danced the night away with the Carlton’s South Carolina Show Band. Be sure to purchase tickets early online for next year! Check out photos from VIP Jackson Magazine, July 2011.

WHAT IS THE MADISON COUNTY CHAMBER DRAGON BOAT REGATTA?

Dear Kasey,
I commend the Chamber for sponsoring and executing such a marvelous event.  At St. Dominic’s, in our effort to serve and fulfill our Mission, we are always seeking opportunities to further bond our team of employees.  The Chamber’s recent Dragon Boat Regatta was not only tremendous fun, but just as importantly, a great opportunity to team build.  It is not often that members from all functions of an organization as large as ours have the chance to unite and attempt a collective and challenging goal.  Our hats are off to you!  Congratulations, and see you next year!

Dragon Boat racing is about to be “a Mississippi Thing”!  A group of local Dragon Boat enthusiasts have formed Magnolia Dragon Boat Association.  The club is in the process of recruiting members and SPONSORS for the year round activity club.  We are working on the purchase of 4 new boats and equipment. For info check out our website.  The new website should be online by the 21st of this month @ www.magnoliadragonboat.com If you have any questions before the site launch feel free to give me a call at 601-238-4655.

This even was such a BLAST. Can’t wait until next year. It is such a unique event - and it has been some time since I’ve seen companies come together and display that amount of camaraderie. Thank you, for introducing all to the “Dragon Boat.”

Wow!  What a wonderful event.  The Dragon Boat Regatta was a blast!  Our team really had a fun time.  We started off rather skeptical--trying to figure out “Just what have we gotten into???” Quickly we got “on board” and were watching other teams for strategic advantages and ideas to improve our time.  By the end of the day, we were signed up for next year.

So look out next year for the BANKPLUS BANDITS who are gonna “ROW IT LIKE WE STOLE IT!”
